 The Gentle Art of Silhouette. I have
been cutting silhouettes, free hand, since 1958 in several states, in
leading dept. stores such as Marshall Fields, Carson Pirie Scott,
Herbergers, Field Schlick and Hauglands Kids. You can call the studio
for our current schedule, to make an appointment or order by mail.
Artists are rare nowadays and good ones are rarer still. Only a handful
can capture a true likeness using only scissors and paper.
I have the subject pose while they watch video tapes. I can also cut silhouettes from a clear profile photo. Pose them against a plain background, up close, showing head and shoulders with no grinning of the mouth. Each silhouette posess a special charm of a time long ago, before there were cameras. It is important to posess original art and keep them for future generations. I am known for accuracy and interior detail known as European embelished style. The scale of each silhouette is 3.5" tall and will fit 5 x 7 frames. I thank God for my special gift and my husband's encouragement to persue the demand for this lost art. | How to
order - Send profile photos (side view) of each subject. Label each
photo clearly (#1, #2, etc.). You will receive 2 silhouettes of each
subject as your minimum order (1 facing right, 1 facing left). Specify
any special instructions such as hair treatment, collar style, etc. It
doesn't matter what the person in the photo is wearing. You will
receive them, ready for framing, in 2 - 3 weeks, mounted on 5" x 7"
acid free paper. Photos will be returned to you. Dewey also frames the
silhouettes on the spot in oval wood frames so suitable for this 18th
century art.
